Player's Guide
I - Introduction
Dogracer is a multiplayer online competition based on virtual dog races.
Each player manages its own kennel, identifiable by a unique name. The kennel consists of two breeds: : Whippet dogs and Greyhound dogs. The goal is to manage the career of his dogs as intelligently as possible and get the kennel profitable, according to his means to invest in the game.
A game lasts a calendar month (January, February, March...), which makes 12 games in a row each year.
A player can start and join a game anytime in the month.
Dogs disappear by the end of each game, the last day of the month. The next day the first day of the month, will start a new game with new dogs.
These two breeds of racing dogs consist in fact in two separate competitions (greyhounds and whippets do not compete in the same race):
Greyhound racing is based on a virtual currency: the DOGZ. Each race requires an entry fee, 95% of the revenue is redistributed to the registration of owners first three greyhounds to cross the finish line. The DOGZ have a real conversion to Euro, Pound and Dollar. Only residents of the United Kingdom and Ireland may withdraw their earnings (no limit). In all other countries, players can convert their best DOGZ and withdraw their deposits of up to. There are those players who are not residents of the United Kingdom or Ireland any hope of reward, DogRacer they are offered solely to entertain.
Each player is free to invest the money he wants in the game in a goal to fight against the risks of addiction, tools are available to participants so they can better control their game (can forbid the paid version, can limit its deposits weekly, possibility of self-exclusion).
Each dog has a unique genetic code data which directly impact its physical and mental, and therefore its performance in races.
Some physical fitness can be worked on in training, while the rest (natural preferences for types of distance and terrain) is solely genetic.
- Chance is present at the creation of a Greyhound: Greyhound of the gene is created in a totally random.
- However, there is no intervention of chance in the algorithms for calculating the outcome of races.
- There is no chance in management algorithms entraînemennts.
- The shape of greyhounds after birth is also no influence of chance, compared to participation in training and races.
We believe that Dogracer is a game of skill (skill game) within the meaning of regulation in most countries of the world, sparking hope that eventually the ability to withdraw earnings without limit in many more countries than the United Kingdom and Ireland (the Skill Games are not regulated the same way that gambling in most countries of the world). However, we are unable to offer any warranty on this trend by country, and prefer for now to adopt a cautious policy and do not place our customers at risk of infringement in relation to local laws of their country of residence.
II - Genetic and physical capabilities of a virtual greyhound
Are taken into account in determining the course of a race the following parameters:
- 1) Speed
Every dog is born with a basic minimum speed (every dog has its own) and a potential maximum speed, which can only be reached through training. A dog will not be able to run above its maximum speed. - 2) Explosiveness
The more powerful the dog, the faster it can explode out of the box. Each dog comes with a minimum power base and maximum potential power, which can only be achieved through training. li>
- 3) Fighting Spirit
Some dogs like competition and racing more than others. Some have more of the Fighting Spirit: the taste of the game, the desire to catch the lure before the others, the will be the fastest and catch up with the dog in front, the ability to reach deep into its reserves. This characteristic is also a drive to work and can be improved over time. -
4) Preferred distance
As for the type of ground, the dog is born with a natural preference (more or less pronounced) for short, long or intermediate distances.
Some greyhound "sprinters" perform best over shorter distances. For the "sprinters", the longer the distance, the less comfortable they will be. Other dogs are more suited for endurance and they excel over long distances, while there are dogs that are more versatile without no propensity for short nor long distances. - 5) Affinity to a type of ground
The going (of the racetrack) can be firm, good, yielding, soft, or heavy.
This setting is entirely genetic, it is innate, training has no impact on this natural preference for a particular type of ground.
The ground, meanwhile, depends on weather conditions.
The going is known with certainty, just one hour before the race, according to the following:
- sunny weather = firm ground,
- sunny spell = good
- cloudy = yielding,
- rainy = soft,
- stormy = heavy
To know the going at the time of the race, the kennel owner can use a "Weather Forecast" link.
Weather forecasts provide only any indication of the conditions. The Forecast becomes more accurate, the closer we get to the start of the race. - 6) Trap preference
Each dog has a preference with respect to the corridor and its position relative to rail. Some greyhounds prefer the rope near the rail (trap number 1), while other dogs prefer feel totally outside (trap number 6), while others prefer the center of the track. This affinity is natural and can not be changed during training. -
7) Fitness
Fitness is one of the multiple factors that impact on a dog race. While the impact of it is real, it is in fact affecting in rather small proportion. The Fitness Index is a mathematical equation where chance does not occur (no random at all). It is based on genetic factors, combined with training and racing activity.
III - 3 ways to buy a greyhound dog
When creating an account Dogracer, and the beginning of each game (first day of each month), each kennel is offered five Whippet dogs (free contest).
Greyhound dogs must be purchased (with real stakes involved in these races).
This section applies only to the competition with issue, namely the Greyhound because it is indeed not possible to create or redeem Whippets (by the number of Whippets kennel remains fixed throughout the game).
- 1) Random creation of a new greyhound
The cost of a new greyhound is 300 DOGZ.
60% of this amount, 180 DOGZ, is used to finance various endowments races (and thus remain in the hands of players): 90 DOGZ are paid into the Hall of Fame prize pool, 60 DOGZ are paid into the Golden Races prize pool, 30 DOGZ are poured into the pot of the Royal Cup pool prize.
The remaining 40%, or 120 DOGZ are retained by DogRacer.com to cover the operating costs of the site.
Each dog is given an access card to a training center (these passes can be exchanged later in the same kennel).
The owner (kennel) that creates a greyhound is considered the breeder (or "breeding kennel) of this greyhound. The kennel breeding affects 12% of earnings for the greyhound's career of it, that the greyhound racing ended his career in the same kennel or is sold to another kennel.
- 2) Auction sales
The system of purchase and sale of greyhounds works on the principle of auctions. Each player can buy and sell greyhounds at auction, organizer of the game does not charge transaction fees.
- 3) Claiming dogs
After the arrival of a claiming race, players have 10 minutes to submit an offer (secret ballot) for one of 6 greyhounds involved. The call price is the price of the claim, but it’s the highest bidder who wins.
- 4) Are direct and private sales allowed?
You cannot buy greyhounds from their owners without going through the auction room or through claimers.
IV - Training
Each kennel has a single access card (at a training center) by dog. The training centers are more or less efficient, more or less specialized to a particular ability to work, the strategy is to best manage the assignments based on their access cards available. These training access cards are not transferable or exchangeable for a kennel to another.
Trainings are free and are held daily.
A greyhound or a whippet dog created during the month comes in the kennel without "penalty" in term of training (the system trains automatically the new dog and catches up with the number of training days missed, the choice of centers is then day by day randomly, the last one corresponding to the center of the access card).
The characteristics worked on during training, with varying degrees of success, depending on the centre are: explosiveness (or ability to leave the box quickly), speed, fighting spirit (ability to comeback when an opponent is ahead) and endurance. Each Centre also has its own nutritional standards, which also have an impact on the dog's fitness.
V - The racing organization
Each race has 6 starters. The first three dogs on arrival reported a benefit to their owner.
There are 4 distances on the DogRacer.com's virtual racetrack: 256 meters (sprint), 460 meters (standard), 660 meters (stayers), 872 meters (marathon).
There are several types of races:
- 1) The "Category Races"
These races run on a principle of grades. The higher a dog climbs in a category, the higher the level of competition and the more DOGZ there are to play for and win (Hall of Fame principle). .
The kennel owner may nominate his dog when he sees fit throughout the career of his protege, which lasts 6 calendar months. - 2) Claiming Races
The Claiming Race is based on the principle that the registered owner irrevocably consents to a predetermined sale price for his dog: ie the asking price. This claiming price is the same for all dogs involved in the race.
The sale takes place by way of secret bidding, for a 10 minute period, just after the end of the race. Obviously, only the first 2 or 3 finishers or so risk being claimed.
Example:
If you register your dogs in a «Claiming Race for 100 DOGZ », this means that your dog will publicly be put on sale for 100 DOGZ, for 10 minutes shortly after the end of the race. You will lose ownership if another player buys at this price (unless you yourself counter bid, see the point “protect his dog” below). You will of course remain the owner if nobody bids by the end of the sale.
Sales conditions for a claiming race: consists of secret bidding, with the price corresponding to the asking price. The highest bidder becomes the new owner.
The dog’s owner can « protect his dog » : he places the highest bid for his dog. He is then only charged for the difference between the claiming price and the price he bid.
In the event of a sale, the owner receives 100% of the asking price and gives a 10% commission to DogRacer (as in classic dog sales).
The difference between the final claimed price and the initial claiming/asking price is donated to the pot for the Royal Cup pool prize.
The selling sessions for claiming races are made public and are accessible to all players, without exception. It is not necessary to be involved in the race in order to claim a dog. - 3) Golden Races
The Golden Race is the flagship race in the online world of DogRacer.com. Except for the final of the Royal Cup (THE big monthly race on DogRacer.com), the Golden Races are the races where the most DOGZ are to be won. The entry conditions are however more restrictive. A win in the Golden Race goes into a player's list of victories.
The Golden Races also refer to the only races on which players can bet DOGZ. - 4) Royal Cup races
The Royal Cup is the flagship competition of the game. A cup of direct elimination where only the 6 finalists share the jackpot. It takes place every month for each age generation. Each time, the race distance is drawn by chance: it is therefore the greyhounds that are "allrounders" that manage to qualify for the final and set the pace.
